It's the middle of summer! To celebrate, today's Bloom Day post is all about the sunset colors blooming in my garden this month. We'll start with yellow and move through orange and red, and then finish up with purple.
Potentilla fruticosa 'Sunset Red' isn't exactly living up to its name, but its yellow flowers will do nicely to begin our sunset journey.
Zantedeschia 'Flame', star of my most recent post.
Asclepias curassavica
Crocosmia 'Corona'
The tail end of a third bloom cycle this year from Clivia miniata 'Belgian Hybrid Orange'
Abutilon 'Tangerine'
Kniphofia 'Timothy'
Bees disappear into the dying blooms of this cultivar in search of nectar.
Agastache 'Acapulco Orange'
Agastache rupestris 'Apache Sunset'
Crocosmia potsii 'Culzean Pink'
Helenium 'Moorheim Beauty'
Punica granatum 'True Dwarf'
Crocosmia 'Lucifer'
Inherited NOID rose
Callistemon 'Woodlander's Hardy Red'
Lewisia cotyledon var. howellii
Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy'
I have lots of other colors and blooms as well, but this is plenty for a sunny July day in Portland, Oregon. Long live summer!
Bloom Day is graciously hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens. Join the fun to see what's blooming in many more July gardens today.

Wonderful! Some of my favorite colors and flowers. Is this a second round of blooms for your Lewisia? Mine flowered in spring, but nothing else since then. The basal leaves are just sitting there, looking a bit wimpy.
ReplyDeleteI'll take them all! They look delightful -- some I can grow/have grown and some I can just admire from afar. I particularly like those warm-hued Agastache, though probably not hardy in my Z5 climate.
ReplyDeleteI love this progression of color! I want one of everything.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your 'Moorheim Beauty'! I was impatient and got the only Helenium I could find at the time ('Mardi Gras'), and while it's nice...it's very bright...and I much prefer that scorched caramel color of 'Moorheim Beauty'. Oh well...in the next garden, right ;-)
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking soo beautiful, Jane!! I love all the hot colors in your garden! The Agastache 'Acapulco Orange' is a really great plant. I bet the hummingbirds go crazy in your garden!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic - so many beautiful flowers! Can't wait to see it all in person again! Love your shot of the hungry bee too...
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing "Red Sails in the Sunset" in my head as I look at your beautiful pictures! Your sunset colored blooms are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI do love everything orange!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous Bloomday post and I love the colors of your sunset.
ReplyDeleteNICE...!!!

You do love red, and your red flowers are beautiful! I'm especially taken with that Helenium and the Abutilon.
ReplyDeletePerfect...
ReplyDeleteThese are my kind of colors, and thanks for reminding me where my 'Culzean Pink' came from.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the gorgeous sunset! I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color range. I love that rose! Any fragrance?
ReplyDeleteSadly, no fragrance that I can detect, Hoov.
DeleteAlthough I'm not typically a fan of orange, I admit your photos almost make me want to rethink that notion. I must investigate the Crocosmia with "pink" in its name. I love the soft colored Kniphofia. I recently purchased that same Asclepias for a friend. I love those vibrant colors. Great post Jane.
